This is a model that worked in our first office out of Belleville, Ontario (population – 55,000), and has worked in communities as small as Westlock and as large as Toronto. The McDougall Insurance Group is one of the largest insurance brokerages in Canada and benefits from the support of our majority shareholder Definity Financial Corporation (who provide the financial resources and expertise of a leading, long-term focused, publicly traded, Canadian insurance company). This scale provides immense benefits to our brokers, but our greatest advantage is we have achieved these benefits while retaining our “soul”.
MIG enjoys full operational independence from Definity, allowing us to operate the business in keeping with our core values – and our brokerages (and their staff) are similarly afforded that autonomy in how they serve their communities. We believe that local, entrepreneurial leaders and staff are the best way to serve our clients – and view our role as one to augment, not replace, the brokers who merge with us.
